The 2021 Yamaha Y16ZR is now in Malaysia at the selling price of RM10,888 excluding road tax, registration fees, and insurance.
The new sporty and sleek design of Y16ZR is inspired by Yamaha sports bikes such as YZF R1 and YZF R6. It is available in 3 colours, which are:
- Phantom Grey
- Arrow Blue
- Raging Yellow
To be sold alongside Yamaha’s popular Y15ZR, Y16ZR is the premium version of Y15ZR with a 155CC, SOHC, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that comes with variable valve actuation (VVA). It is upgraded with a six-speed gearbox (as compared to Y15ZR that comes in five speeds only); an assist/slipper clutch; and a new 2-piston brake caliper with a large 245mm brake disc.
Carrying engine from the Yamaha MT15 and Yamaha YZF R15, Y16ZR produces 17.7hp at 9,500rpm and 14.4Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The 119 kg Yamaha Y16ZR comes in a 795mm seat height set with 5.4L of fuel capacity.
Other exciting new features shall include an LCD screen, a kill switch (which is usually only available on big bikes), a built-in 12-volt charging socket, and a smart key system.
The Y16ZR offering will be available at all Hong Leong Yamaha Motor authorized dealer’s showrooms starting from 31 March 2021. Yamaha is also offering the first 5,000 purchasers of Y16ZR a Royal Selangor key pouch that can be personalized to their names.
